上海観光で一番の悩みの種は、区をまたぐ際の交通渋滞と、満員電車での地下鉄移動です。今回はMetropolo Classiq, Shanghai, YMCA-People square, Jinjiang Hotelを選び、滞在してみて、まさに都心の隠れた名所だと実感しました。ホテルのすぐ外には、豫園と外灘の主要観光スポットが広がっています。地下鉄、車、徒歩、どのルートも非常に便利で、3日間の滞在中、移動に時間を無駄にすることはほとんどありませんでした。
まずは最も便利な交通手段からご紹介しましょう。虹橋駅からは、地下鉄10号線で豫園駅まで直行。3番出口を出て角を曲がると、ホテルの入り口です。乗り換えなしで40分ほどで到着し、上海の冷たい風も全く感じませんでした。浦東空港からは、地下鉄2号線で10号線に乗り換えてください。所要時間はわずか1時間ちょっと。早朝便を利用する場合でも、2時間も前に慌てて出発する必要はありません。徒歩5分のところに地下鉄8号線と14号線の乗り換え駅があります。14号線は東西を結ぶ主要路線で、陸家嘴や静安寺へも電車1本で直行できます。ラッシュアワーでも地下鉄は満員ですが、上海のあらゆるショッピングエリアへスムーズにアクセスできます。
何より素晴らしいのは、徒歩圏内の利便性です。ホテルの入り口から徒歩15分圏内に、数えきれないほどの人気スポットがあります。徒歩3分で豫園の古い路地裏に直行でき、朝は南翔蒸しパンを30分も急ぐことなく、温かい一杯を味わうのに最適です。東へ10分歩けば外灘の遊歩道に出ます。南京路の混雑に巻き込まれることなく、夕日や陸家嘴の夜景を眺めるのにうってつけです。北へ12分ほど歩くと南京路の入り口に直結しており、そこから歩行者天国をのんびりと散策しながら人民広場まで行くことができます。途中、焼きたての肉餡入り月餅を買うこともできます。ある日は早起きして20分ほどのんびりと散歩し、外白渡橋まで歩いて行きました。途中、上海の古い石庫門建築を写真に収めながら歩きました。タクシーで行くよりもずっと面白かったです。
周辺の設備は期待以上でした。ホテルから右手にわずか200メートルのところに24時間営業のコンビニエンスストアがあり、夜遅くに水や軽食を買いに行くのに遠くまで行く必要がありませんでした。500メートル以内には大型スーパーマーケットがあり、景勝地の入り口で買うよりも半額で、蝶のクッキーや梨シロップキャンディーといった上海のお土産を買うことができました。徒歩10分圏内には、上海の郷土料理店、焼き餃子店、老舗菓子店などが軒を連ねています。流行の店を探し回ったり、遠くまで足を運んだりする必要はありません。階段を下りて路地裏に入るだけで、昔ながらの上海の味に出会えます。
車でお越しの方も、全く心配無用です。上海の中心部で専用駐車場を持つのは非常に稀で、上海に来たことがある方ならその貴重さがお分かりでしょう。古い路地を30分もさまよい歩いて駐車場を探す必要はありません。車を停めてそのまま中庭へ乗り入れることができます。ディズニーランドへは南浦大橋を渡り、高架道路を利用すればOK。徐匯江岸へは瑞寧路を通ればOK。市内の渋滞に巻き込まれることもなく、スムーズに移動できます。
